AGNES ELLERT – A TRIBUTE

On her 99th birthday!
On her 99th birthday!

As we come upon the second anniversary of Aunt Aggie’s death, on her 100th birthday, I ponder the huge gap that she has left in our family. Those days leading up to her death are still very clear in my mind. She was so excited about actually reaching her 100th birthday! Daily she wanted to make sure I had her clothes ready for that day and the sandwiches /cupcakes for her family party that meant so much to her. Aggie was of strong heart and will and was determined, but just a few short hours before the actual birthday, she took her last breath.

Dianna and Stephene will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary on that day as well and will be celebratingtheir love for each other and for Aunt Aggie. Even after all this time she still has a huge influence on all of us. We all think of her daily, especially at the family get togethers she loved so much. It was so special that Dianna and Stephene had their wedding day on such a special day so we can always keep her memory.

One consolation in her death is that we could not have asked for more than 100 years – so we are thankful that Gad shared her with us for a lifetime you may say.

Happy 102nd Birthday Aggie!

As we toil along life’s highway,

We often look above and hope you are lighting the way,

Your candles – your words will brighten our day,

And give us hope that everything will be okay

Life goes on, Things happen – some good and some bad,

But it is our memories of you that we still have,

Love and admiration for our family matriarch we cherish

As we work and play and sleep.

I treasure those last few years with Aggie,

Many hours we spent talking and sharing,

All that time you spent with us, caring,

In our early lives when we were young.

Those years were special,

She cared for me and for my children,

Her love empowered us all,

May her memories go on and on

And keep us all strong!

Love, Anne

    1. Thanks, Gwen, she was so near and dear to us. For the first 19 years Anne and I were married, we lived next door to Aggie. She was care giver to the kids and I did much of her outside work. I always called her “Boss”.

  1. It is good when you can live a long, wonderful and healthy life. You can’t ask for more than that. Nice tribute John.

  2. Great post, Anne! It is a very good thing to remember publicly, a fine lady who was your second mother – and a mother to me and our three children. She was the glue that held our family together and she is sorely missed. Yet, I believe Aggie will always be with us, in our hearts and in spirit. Happy 102nd Birthday, Boss!
