200 yards from Hack Green locks moorings on the Shropshire Union canal, halfway twixt Nantwich and Audlem. Entry as of 2017 £9.25 per adult survivor. Tours available, otherwise just wander around at will. I took a really good gander and spent two hours there. Allow time to watch a 45 minute film “The War Game” in one of the two cinemas – it will chill you to the classic Pathé bone, and will leave you nervous for weeks afterwards.

  1. Thank you for reblogging! I am still reeling from the incongruity of a nuclear bunker just yards from the canals, it just doesn’t seem right, somehow. I suppose that in time of war there would be abandoned ministerial boats moored for miles in either direction… 😉

    1. You’re welcome, Ian, thanks for sharing your explorations. I agree with your sentiment about these bunkers saving the wrong people. Wars will stop when those who start them, fight them and leave the innocents out of it.
